Atlanta Braves fans had to be feeling good when Ronald Acuña Jr. beat up on the A's on Wednesday after he was coming off a bit of an injury scare. However, most of the discourse around Acuña lately has been around a potential Braves selloff and whether or not Acuña could get traded along the way.

Try as some might, the idea that the Braves would actually trade Acuña was always facing long odds even if there was some merit to the idea in a vacuum under certain conditions. However, it seems like the Braves are going with a full court press in the media at the moment to combat the speculation.

USA Today's MLB insider Bob Nightengale made sure to note in one of his most recent columns that Acuña isn't getting traded by citing sources claiming "zero interest". If that wasn't enough, The Athletic's Jim Bowden, who normally never finds a player he doesn't think could be in a trade, came out and said that the Braves are not trading Acuña Jr. or will they even take offers for him.

Braves are clearly trying to make it known that trading Ronald Acuña Jr. isn't going to happen

It sure seems like Alex Anthopoulos or someone else with the Braves is trying to quash all of this speculation around Acuña Jr. and his future. Such a move makes loads of sense as not only does it give Acuña assurance that he isn't getting shopped around, but helps protect against backlash from fans from even the appearance of selling off the frachise icon.

In a roundabout way, perhaps this move also makes an extension with Acuña more likely. He has already expressed a strong interest in being a Brave for life and clearly the front office does not have any designs on letting him leave anytime soon.

With that, Acuña's immediate future in Atlanta is likely secure. As to who else the Braves made trade away now that any hope they might have had to make the playoffs is all but gone, that remains to be seen.
