While recently retired manager Brian Snitker's legacy will be his loyalty to one organization, sticking with the Atlanta Braves for five decades, his son, Troy, doesn't appear to hold any allegiances to his father's organization.

Four years after taking on his father's team in the World Series as the Houston Astros hitting coach, the younger Snitker has now officially taken his talents to New York and joined the rival Mets.

Brian Snitker's son, Troy, just joined rival Mets and it stinks

In Troy Snitker's defense, the 36-year-old was on the job market for the first time in his young career as an MLB coach. After spending seven seasons as a major league coach for the Astros, Snitker was let go by Astros after the 2025 season.

At the same time, the New York Mets fired their hitting coaches after a monumentally disappointing season where they went from having the best record in baseball in June to missing the playoffs altogether.

For a World Series-starved team like the New York Mets looking for a hitting coach to put their team over the top, it only made sense that they'd turn to a young hitting coach who already has a championship under his belt in his young coaching career.

It seems like Snitker made quite the impression on the Mets, too, as his hiring came just days after it was made public that the team had interviewed him for the job.

Snitker will join an organization that has one of the best hitters in baseball, Juan Soto, as well as several above-average hitters in Francisco Lindor, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Alvarez, and Brandon Nimmo. If Snitker's offense can avoid the offensive implosion they had last year, this position could bode very well for him.

If his new team can have the same prolonged success his former club had during his first six seasons as a coach, it could bode very poorly for Braves fans.
