Atlanta Braves fans have been lucky to watch a very talented and consistent lineup over the last few years. A lot of this stability comes from the front office locking up young talent early and sprinkling in some veteran additions.
It's provided Atlanta with a winning culture for almost a decade. However, some of these players are nearing free agency in the next couple of years. There are a couple who are locked in for longer than that. Below you'll see a list of the entire Braves lineup, and when fans can expect them to potentially hit the open market.
Here we've included players that fans can expect to see in the lineup every day. We will go over the year they are expected to reach free agency and if they have any team options ahead of that.
Here's when the Braves' lineup hits free agency
Ronald Acuña Jr
Braves fans don't want even to consider Acuña playing for another team. Unfortunately, he is just a few years away from that being a possibility. He is slated to become a free agent in 2029, but he has club options for 2027 and 2028 valued at $17 million. Fans hope Atlanta finds a way to extend him before this is even possible, but they've been burned before.
Ozzie Albies
Albies was a question mark ahead of the 2026 season, but the Braves decided to bring him back at an affordable $7 million. He is part of the glue of Atlanta's clubhouse. It's hard to imagine him on another team. However, Albies has one club option remaining for 2027 at $7 million. If the front office brings him back again, he will become a free agent for the 2028 season.
Drake Baldwin
Baldwin hasn't reached arbitration status yet, so he won't reach free agency until 2031. The reigning NL Rookie of the Year could be the next youngster in line to receive an early contract extension. So, he may not reach free agency for a while if Atlanta decides to reward him for his impressive start.
Michael Harris II
Harris has benefited from the Braves' willingness to hand out deals to their young core. He's probably happy he did with how he's declined the last two seasons offensively. Hopefully, Tim Hyers can get Atlanta's defensive wizard back on track at the plate. Harris doesn't reach free agency until 2033, but he has club options for 2031 and 2032 valued at $15 million and $20 million, respectively.
Ha-Seong Kim
Kim impressed the Braves enough in his short time with the team in 2025 to earn a one-year, $20 million contract for 2026. Atlanta's shortstop chose to bet on himself, as there were other teams to offer him multi-year contracts. He will have an opportunity for a bigger deal ahead of the 2027 season.
Sean Murphy
The Braves were quick to extend Sean Murphy after they acquired him in a trade. He signed a six-year, $73 million contract through 2028. This also includes a 2029 club option worth $15 million if Atlanta wants to keep him around longer. Murphy would land in free agency for the 2030 season.
Matt Olson
Similar to Murphy, Olson was quickly extended after being traded from the A's. He's been an incredible addition for the Braves and worth every penny of his eight-year, $168 million contract. Atlanta's first baseman also has a club option valued at $20 million in 2030 before he reaches free agency in 2031.
Jurickson Profar
Profar's first season didn't really go how anyone expected, so he'll hope to redeem himself in 2026. His three-year, $42 million contract expires after 2027, and he will have to test the market again for the 2028 season. For Profar's sake, and the Braves, he will need to prove he still has what it takes to compete at a high level.
Austin Riley
Riley is the one player on this list who could be in Atlanta for a while. He isn't slated to reach free agency until 2034, with a $20 million club option for 2033. He currently has the highest AAV on the entire Braves roster at $22 million.
Mike Yastrzemski
Yastrzemski is excited for his opportunity to play for a contender again. He signed a two-year, $23 million contract and will serve in whatever role the Braves need him to. He could be the everyday left fielder if Atlanta decides to run Profar as their DH, or he could serve as a roving outfielder to give guys a break every now and then. Yastrzemski has a $7 million club option for 2028 and will reach free agency again in 2029.
