Even in an Atlanta Braves farm system that lacks the depth it once had, Patrick Clohisy is easy to miss. Clohisy wasn't a high draft pick nor did he get a massive bonus, he played for a small college program, and he is not exactly an imposing physical presence at a listed 5'10 and 190 pounds. Normally, an 11th round pick with his pedigree would have been forgotten not long after being drafted, but Clohisy is trying to subvert that expectation down in the AFL.

Clohisy's first look at professional baseball saw him show some flashes, but a .234/.318/.309 line in 26 games wasn't ever going to get much attention. Even in 2025, Clohisy only managed a .681 OPS between high-A and Double-A which doesn't exactly scream "top prospect" production.

However, Clohisy skill set as a baseball player is a bit unique. Thanks to his at least plus speed and a willingness to use it on the bases and in the outfield, Clohisy is is starting to gain a bit of a cult following and getting a lot of attention down in the Arizona Fall League.

Braves prospect Patrick Clohisy's speed (and willingness to use it whenever possible) is making waves in AFL

Given that Clohisy stole 79 bases in 131 games this past season, his assignment down in the AFL must have been pretty simple. At 23 years old, he is going to have to move through the minors pretty quickly if he is going to be a big leaguers, so he needed to take advantage of the extra reps and show that his game can translate against more advanced competition.

Well, Clohisy is off to a good start if that is his goal. In his first four games down in the AFL, he has stolen six bases and his reputation as a "plays like his hair is on fire" reputation has held true thus far. With Clohisy actually hitting better in Double-A than he did in high-A, there is at least some hope that his bat has more upside than he has shown thus far.

Stories like Clohisy's are really fun. While he still faces long odds of becoming a big league regular (which is true of most prospects), Braves scouts saw something special in him and Clohisy is absolutely making the most of the opportunity afforded to him. Whether or not he actually makes it to MLB, it is very clear that he is leaving all out of the field and running wild along the way.
