The Atlanta Braves have returned to their status as NL East champs, despite some trials this season. It hasn't always been pretty, but they've found a way to get it done.
However, the way things have gone only further proves the need to add in the offseason. Atlanta cannot afford to hope to piece things together every season. There may be some players they have to consider moving on from to improve the team going forward.
Here are the 6 best trade chips the Braves may need to consider moving in the upcoming offseason
Alex Lodise
Lodise really turned things on toward the end of the 2026 minor league season. He posted a .272/.355/.486 slash line, 25 doubles, 28 home runs, 84 RBI, and an .841 OPS over 134 games. Atlanta's top prospect ended his season at Double-A Columbus, and he impressed on both sides of the ball. He definitely could be a factor for the Braves in the future, but he could also net them a nice return in a trade should they need to.
Cam Caminiti
Teams are always looking for controllable left-handed pitchers, and Caminiti would likely be at the top of the list for a few teams. Caminiti has continued to improve this season across two levels. He has a 3.38 ERA, 53 walks, and 125 strikeouts over 114.2 innings. The southpaw has only gotten better at Double-A, and he is pitching as a first-round pick should. He would absolutely net the Braves a bountiful return in any trade.
Eric Hartman
2026 was a breakout season for Hartman, who played his way to becoming Atlanta's top prospect. He is on everyone's radar now, and he should be. Hartman found his power this season and continued to be a force on the basepaths. He has struggled at the plate a bit in Double-A, but his speed and defense continue to be top-notch. Hartman will be at the top of any trade conversations this offseason.
Ozzie Albies
Albies' contract is so affordable at $7 million that it's crazy to think the Braves wouldn't keep him. However, despite his recent struggles, he has a good enough track record to be extremely valuable to other teams. It would be unwise for Atlanta to not at least consider moving their beloved second baseman.
Spencer Strider
Strider hasn't been the same pitcher since his most recent elbow injury. He's struggled to compete when on the mound and hasn't been able to remain healthy. The Braves need to consider shopping him around, considering he is still owed $22 million for the next two seasons, including a club option for 2029. Surely there are teams that would be interested, despite his regression.
Reynaldo Lopez
Lopez has become a shadow of his former self after posting a career-best 1.99 ERA in 2024. His velocity hasn't returned to where it was thanks to multiple shoulder injuries. A knee injury interrupted 2026 as well. He was moved into a bullpen role after struggling to pitch deep into games when he was available. Lopez's fight with Jorge Soler really seemed to derail things for him.
It may be time for the Braves to cut ties with him, since he isn't dependable as a starter or reliever at this point. He's owed $8 million in 2027, and his experience would still add some value in a potential trade.
