Late season promotions are very common in Major League Baseball, and the Atlanta Braves have seen their fair share of them recently. Atlanta's farm system has taken a giant leap forward in 2026, and the hope is that many of these impressive prospects can finish the season strong and build momentum toward their offseason schedule.
The Braves are reportedly set to test another one of their rising prospects with a promotion to Double-A Columbus. Outfielder Dixon Williams is the player in question; he has spent the entire 2026 season in High-A Rome, but reports indicate he is set to spend the remaining minor league season with the Clingstones.

Dixon Williams reportedly being promoted to Double-A Columbus
Most folks know about the year Eric Hartman has enjoyed, but another outfielder in Atlanta's organization has put up a historic season in a much more under the radar fashion. Williams is in the midst of a historic 20/30 season in Rome this year, and has played all across the diamond for the Emperors. In his first full season of pro ball, the Braves are rewarding Williams with one final test to get a look at how the 22-year-old will hold up against a big step in competition.
Not yet a top 30 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Williams will be a name on many people's list of Atlanta position player prospects that deserve a closer look during the offseason and heading into next year's spring training. Williams slashed .238/.337/.472 in 104 games with Rome this season, and with 12 games remaining in Columbus' season, it's the perfect chance to see how Williams' skill set translates to facing more advanced pitching.
The big league club has its own storylines to follow in September, but don't lose sight of how some of these intriguing prospects perform as they are tested over the final weeks of the minor league season. Williams is one of many who saw their stock rise in 2025; now it's time to see if he can put an exclamation point on an already successful 2025 campaign.
