Atlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. New York Mets, April 11
The Braves look to grab a win on a getaway day as Allan Winans faces his former team.
The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets had to postpone the third game of their series due to inclement weather heading across the Southeast. That game was rescheduled for September 26 in Atlanta.
Atlanta will hope to win the final game of the series and give themselves a happy flight to Miami to begin their next road trip. The Braves will face the Marlins and Astros before heading back home.
The team is currently 7-3 and in first place in the division with a two-game lead over the Phillies. Their high-powered offense has driven that success so far in 2024 and hopefully, they'll get more of that on Thursday afternoon.
Probable starting pitchers
Allan Winans makes the start for the Atlanta Braves and this will be his third career start against the New York Mets. Winans was once a part of the Mets organization before the Braves grabbed him in the Rule 5 Draft. He faced New York twice in 2024 with one great start of seven innings and nine strikeouts and in the second start, he only pitched 4.1 innings with seven earned runs allowed.
Winans has made one start for the Gwinnett Stripers in 2024 with a 5.2-inning performance. He allowed two runs on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Hopefully, he carries that great work into today's start at Truist Park.
Jose Quintana will oppose Winans and he will be looking to get his first win of the season. Quintana hasn't enjoyed his time with the Mets as he was injured for most of 2023. When he did pitch, it was pretty good as he had an ERA of 3.57 through 75.2 innings with 24 walks and 60 strikeouts. Through two starts in 2024, he has allowed three runs on 11 hits with six walks and eight strikeouts.
The Atlanta offense had a .302 combined average over two games in 2023. Look for Ozzie Albies and Marcell Ozuna to have a good day at the plate as they've had the most success against Quintana. Ozuna is 10-20 (.455 average) with one HR and seven RBI while Albies is 6-10 (.600 average) with two HR and three RBI.
