Atlanta Braves prospects have been putting on a great show for minor league fans this season. It's so nice to see Atlanta's farm thriving after not being ranked very highly the last few years. Alex Anthopoulos and his staff have worked tirelessly to get things back on track. Fans have probably heard of the top prospects in Atlanta's system, but some are overshadowed by more familiar names.
Owen Carey is one of those prospects who needs to have a bit more attention sent his way. He didn't have the best season in 2025, but he finished strong and showed the ability to adjust. His teammate Eric Hartman has rightfully gotten more attention in 2026, as Carey didn't have the best start to the season. However, he is starting to heat up in a big way.
His season stat line between Rookie ball and High-A Rome looks pretty good. The outfielder has a .255/.325/.438 slash line, a .763 OPS, eight doubles, five homers, 19 RBI, 12 walks, and 28 strikeouts. Carey's slash line at High-A Rome is .269/.336/.471, with all five of his homers coming at that level. He has really racked up the strikeouts, and that's the main thing hurting him.
However, it's impressive seeing him on a nine-game hitting streak right now with a .400 batting average over 35 at-bats.

Owen Carey is a name to watch down in the Braves' minor league system
Adding this offensive potential with his great outfield defense and strong arm bodes very well for the Braves. Outfield depth is always very good to have, and Carey should only get better with time as he's just 19 years old.
Carey is also on a team with a pretty talented outfield that consists of Hartman, himself, and Isaiah Drake. The Emperors have a great defensive outfield that is starting to hit very well. All three players are very young, which should have fans very excited for the future.
Carey will have to learn to be more patient at the plate and cut down on the swing and miss if he wants to get to the next level. Not only that, but he also needs to cut down on hitting ground balls and lifting the ball more. The recent increase in homers gives a glimmer of hope that he's turning that corner.
