Unless you have literally no interest in the minor leagues and/or prospects (and we feel sorry for you if that is the case), most Atlanta Braves fans have become very familiar with Eric Hartman's name at this point. From a late-round draft pick that seemed unsignable to most due to his commitment to Michigan to now being a consensus top-100 prospect with a massive up-arrow next to his name is quite the story to unfold over the course of a few months. If you weren't sure that Hartman's hype was peaking, one only needs to look at the chase for his coveted Bowman 1st autos.
For those who have successfully avoided the card-collecting hobby in recent years, Bowman 1st cards of a player (denoted by a big ol' "1st" on the card) are widely regarded as a player's true rookie card these days, and they can command big bucks. With Hartman's ascension beginning just before the release of his 1sts in 2026 Bowman, it did not take long for him to become one of the biggest chase players in the entire product. However, his biggest card, being the 1/1 superfractor auto, remained elusive.
At least, that WAS the case until recently. Just Baseball's Aram Leighton was eagle-eyed enough to notice that not only had Hartman's superfractor auto been pulled, but it was also already for sale on eBay. While there is no guarantee that the seller will get someone to pay their $65,000 asking price, it isn't as crazy a price as you might think when compared to what his cards are going for right now.
It appears Eric Hartman’s superfractor was pulled…safe to say it’s out of my price range. pic.twitter.com/SbkIr0h9fE

Eric Hartman's superfractor has surfaced, and it has a real chance to capitalize on the insane demand for his cards
It seems like every week, Hartman has some sort of performance that gets everyone's attention, and his numbers this season are absolutely bonkers. Still, it is wild that just the unnumbered base versions of his 1st autos are routinely going for over $100 now. Those sorts of prices are usually reserved for the top echelon of prospects and quality big-leaguers, not guys who have been insane for just half a season.
However, the belief in Hartman's abilities is very real and very strong right now, and the card market proves it. Back on June 8, a true red refractor (which are numbered to just five copies) of Hartman's 1st auto sold for almost $13,000. If you extrapolate that price in terms of rarity, $65,000 actually makes sense as an asking price, as crazy as that sounds. With 141 watchers on that card already, there have to be at least a few deep-pocketed collectors out there who are thinking about it.
Whether or not that is a good investment at that price or anything close to it is a different question entirely. Hartman appears to be immensely talented with a chance to be a real star for the Braves. However, the prices he is commanding are ones that assume that he is going to be a perennial All-Star, and there is no guarantee of that whatsoever at this stage. However, there is apparently no stopping the Hartman hype train, so just enjoy the ride for now.
