Well, at least we know for sure now.

The World Series is thankfully over and the Atlanta Braves can actually get to the business at hand. While most fans are most excited about whether or not Ha-Seong Kim will stick around as well as which players Atlanta will add ahead of 2026, but the Braves still don't have a manager and the prevailing wisdom has been that the favorite for the job just finished his World Series duties.

While there are a number of potential managerial candidates for Atlanta, most would agree that the current scuttlebutt has Dodgers bench coach Danny Lehmann emerging as a frontrunner even if the decision is obviously not set in stone. Lehmann is young, extremely qualified, comes from a perennial winner, and seems to have a great grasp on traditional coaching as well as advanced analytics. With some of Lehmann's other suitors already filling their vacancies, he has been the logical candidate for Atlanta.

What we didn't know is if the Braves actually have him on their list of candidates. Sure, having Braves beat writer Mark Bowman mention him multiple times is a massive clue, but MLB insider Jon Morosi just gave us the confirmation we needed as Atlanta have been, indeed, considering Lehmann to be their next skipper.

Braves have indeed had Danny Lehmann under consideration for manager search, but exactly how much long the search will go on is uncertain

While it may seem like a small, obvious thing, knowing that the Braves have looked at Lehmann gives us a good idea of what the next steps are. The Dodgers won the World Series, so now Lehman is presumably free to interview for positions assuming that his contract and team allow that to happen. In an ideal world, the end of the Fall Classic means that we could see Atlanta make a hire in the coming days.

That is far from a sure thing, however. Yes, Lehmann has been a leading candidate and he does seem available to talk now, but Dodgers first base coach Chris Woodward was also floated recently as a potential candidate and could be on the Braves' radar as well. We also don't know if the Braves held off formal interviews with any other potential candidates before the conclusion of the playoffs. There is a world where we could be waiting a while if the Braves are being extra methodical.

Thankfully, it does feel like the Braves almost have to prioritize the manager search with free agency just a few days away. The team will want to be able to sell a stable and quality coaching staff to prospective players and they can't really do that until they have a manager and then sort out the rest of the coaching positions. One hopes they get to it quickly because whether or not it is Lehmann, it is in Atlanta's best interest to get this thing done soon as well as done right.
