The arrival of spring training means two things: baseball is right around the corner, and a lot of Atlanta Braves have new uniform numbers.
As has become a yearly tradition, we break down all of the uniform number changes, from old Braves switching to new number (or in some cases, old numbers), new players taking over former fan favorites' numbers, and new coaches.
This year, Braves.com did us a favorite by updating all of the uniform number assignments to start the spring, which means less time for me hunting down the changes.
Same team, new number
Ian Anderson #48 (old number #36) | Last worn by Chadwick Tromp (2023)

This is technically an old number for Anderson, who wore #48 during his rookie season in 2020. He switched to #36 in 2021, and wore the number for two seasons.
Perhaps the 26-year-old righty is looking to recapture some of the magic he had during his rookie year, as he reclaims his original number while he competes for the fifth spot in the rotation.
Hurston Waldrep #64 (old number #30) | Last worn by Jimmy Herget (2024)

I'm not sure why the rookie prospect decided to change numbers, especially considering he was given a big number from his debut when he was handed number 30. Sometimes, I guess, players just need a change.
New 2025 Braves numbers
Jurickson Profar #7 | Last worn by Dansby Swanson (2017-2022)

For two seasons, Dansby Swanson's #7 unexplainably sat unclaimed. However, it appears that the Braves have finally found a worthy successor. Profar wore #10 for the Padres, but that number is retired on the Braves.
Bryan De La Cruz #14 | Last worn by Adam Duvall (2024)
Bryan De La Cruz looks to start the season in a platoon with Jarred Kelenic, so it's only fitting he wear the same number as Kelenic's 2024 platoon mate, Adam Duvall.
De La Cruz wore number 14 with the Marlins, so it's not too surprising that he reclaimed a familiar number as he joins Atlanta.
Amos Willingham #50 | Last worn by Charlie Morton (2021-2024)
As a member of the rival Washington Nationals, Amos Willingham wore number 54. While that number is available now, thanks to the departure of the Braves longtime ace, Max Fried, Willingham will instead take the number of a different former rotation stalwart, Charlie Morton.
Davis Daniel #58 | Last worn by Ray Kerr (2024)
While Ray Kerr is still in the Braves organization, he'll need a new number if he is able to cover from Tommy John before the season is over. Daniel also wore number 58 with the Angels.
Nick Allen #60 | Last worn by Jesse Chavez (2021-2024)
Sadly, it appears that the Braves are not interested in reserving Jesse Chavez's number 60 in the event that returns for yet another Braves stint. For now, at least, his old number will be in the hands of new backup infielder, Nick Allen.
Anderson Pilar #63 | Last worn by J.P. Martinez (2024)
One of the Braves two Rule 5 picks, the hard throwing righty will wear number 63, which was last donned by outfielder J.P. Martinez in 2024.
Christian Cairo #70 | Last worn by Alex Jackson (2019)
The other Rule 5 pick, Christian Cairo looks to compete for the backup infielder position. If he makes the Opening Day roster and keeps number 70, he'd be the first Brave to wear the number on field since Alex Jackson did so in 2019.
Carlos D. Rodriguez #71 | Last worn by Ben Heller (2023)
Carlos D. Rodriguez quietly signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Braves this offseason. He will compete for the final position player spot, and will wear #71, at least for the spring.
New Braves coaches

It seems like the years of giving coaches lower numbers is over, at least in Atlanta. While Kevin Seitzer, Eric Young Sr, and Ron Washington all wore numbers you'd expect to see players wear, the last two seasons have seen coaches assigned numbers hardly touched by players.
Tim Hyers #80 | Last worn by N/A
Taking over the role of hitting coach from Kevin Seitzer, the Georgia-born former MLB first baseman will wear number 80 as he hopes to get the offense back on track after a disappointing 2024.
Hugh Quattlebaum #82 | Last worn by N/A
Hugh Quattlebaum has an 80-grade name, and will wear number 82. Quattlebaum is one of the two new assistant hitting coaches the Braves onboarded this season.
Carlos Mendez #83 | Last worn by N/A
Carlos Mendez is the other new assistant hitting coach. He has been given number 83.
