The Braves had a busy offseason, which is great if you're like me and love to see which Braves are wearing which numbers. From the new guys, to a few players who have decided that a number like #73 didn't fit their back, we're breaking down the new number assignments for Atlanta Braves players.

These numbers assignments come from Braves.com I have been able to find updates fromMLB Jersey Numbers on Twitter, and posts on the Braves throughout Spring Training. The last player to wear a certain number comes from Baseball Reference.

Same team, new number

You know these guys, but they're starting 2024 fresh with a new number.

AJ Smith-Shawver #32 (Old Number: #62) | Last worn by Collin McHugh (2022-2023)

AJ Smith-Shawver burst onto the scene last year despite only having three years of total pitching experience. As many starters do after receiving a high number during their rookie campaign, Smith-Shawver has decided to downsize, and is wearing #32 this Spring Training.

Darius Vines #61 (Old Number: #64) | Last worn by Nick Anderson (2023)

Darius Vines has also decided to take a lower number, as many starting pitchers do after their first season in the bigs. Unlike Smith-Shawver, however, he's decided to go with #61, just three numbers down from his previous number.

Daysbel Hernandez #62 (Old Number: #75) | Last worn by AJ Smith-Shawver (2023)

Hernandez made four appearances during the regular season for the Braves last season in his debut season with the number #75. This season, he'll be trying to crack the club with AJ Smith-Shawver's old number.

You can get a glimpse of him in his new number in Reynaldo Lopez's Instagram video here.

Alan Winans #59 (Old Number: #72) | Last worn by Dereck Rodríguez (2023)

Winans joins the starting-pitchers-downsizing-their-number party, subtracting 13 from his debut number to #59.

New 2024 Braves uniform numbers

These are the fresh blood. First time Braves, who are making the first important decision in their Braves career. Right up there with where they are going to live during the season I'm sure.

Luis Guillorme #15 | Last worn by Nicky Lopez (2023)

The Braves new utility infielder, Luis Guillorme, is taking the number of his predecessor, Nicky Lopez. Guillorme most recently wore #13 with the Mets, but that number is taken by someone who is just.

The utility infielder did wear #15 when he first debuted with the Mets in 2018.

Jarred Kelenic #24 | Last worn by Braden Shewmake (2023)

Jarred Kelenic wore #10 with the Seattle Mariners, but that number is retired for Chipper Jones on the Braves. Instead, the LF will wear #24, last worn by Braden Shewmake in his two game campaign with the Braves last season.

Reynaldo Lopez #40 | Last worn by Michael Soroka (2018-2023)

Reynaldo Lopez, who started the 2023 season with the White Sox before being traded to the Angels and claimed by the Guardians, will be switching numbers with former Brave fan favorite, Michael Soroka, who is taking Lopez's old #40.

Hopefully the two pitchers both have successful seasons in 2024.

Aaron Bummer #49 | last worn by Kolby Allard (2023)

Aaron Bummer wore #39 with the White Sox last season, but that number is worn by pitching coach Rick Kranitz. Instead, the new lefty reliever will wear #49, last worn by a different lefty, Kolby Allard.

Chris Sale #51 | Last worn by Michael Tonkin (2023)

Chris Sale wore #49 with the White Sox and #41 with the Red Sox, but the former is taken by a different former White Sox and the latter is retired for Eddie Mathews.

Instead, Sale will wear #51, last worn by another tall, lanky pitcher, Michael Tonkin.

Ray Kerr #58 | Last worn by Bullpen Coach Drew French (2021-2023); last worn on field by Dan Winkler (2018)

Drew French wore this number during his stint as the team's Bullpen Coach, but now that's he's with Baltimore, it was free for Kerr to take. The lefty wore #56 with the Padres.

Angel Perdomo #67 | Last worn by Luke Williams (2023)

Angel Perdomo is out for the season, but he still got assigned a number. Even though Luke Williams is still with the team as a non-roster invitee, it appears he was fine relinquishing #67 to Angel Perdomo.

Don't forget about the coaches

The Braves have three new coaches for the 2024 season. Tom Goodwin, taking over for Eric Young Jr., Matt Tuiasosopo, taking over for Ron Washington, and Erick Abreu, taking over for Drew French.

Erick Abreu #85 | Last worn by N/A

Erick Abreu is taking #85 as he takes over the role as Bullpen Coach. This number has never been worn by a Braves player on the field.

Tom Goodwin #88 | Last worn by N/A

Tom Goodwin is wearing #88 as he takes over as the 1B Coach, replacing Eric Young Sr. Goodwin wore #82 as the Red Sox coach.

Matt Tuiasosopo #89 | Last worn by N/A

When Matt Tuiasosopo cameoed as the Braves 3B Coach last season, the former MLBer wore #93. This season, as he takes over for Ron Washington permanantly, he'll wear #89.

No Brave has worn #89 at the major league level, but it's been worn by plenty of players during Spring Training, including Ronald Acuña Jr. during 2017 Spring Training.
