It's been rare to not see the Atlanta Braves atop the National League East over the years. 2024 was the first time that a team not named the Braves won the division in seven years. Atlanta had been on a run of six straight division titles from 2018-2023.
Injuries and underperformance doomed them last season but the rest of the division cannot expect this to be the norm. Atlanta is poised to return with another strong roster and take back the reins. How will things shake out in 2025? The staff at House That Hank Built provided our predictions for the upcoming season below.
Predicting how the Braves will perform in the NL East in 2025
Nick: Braves, Phillies, Mets, Nationals, Marlins - The Mets might have owned the 2025 offseason, but the division is Atlanta’s to lose. The Braves have the best pitching staff and an offense ready for a rebound season. Philly has far more impressive depth than New York making them the most obvious threat to Atlanta. The Mets are a wildcard team that is one injury away from having a very average roster. Washington and Miami remain in the basement neither having anything close to capable rosters.
Fred: Braves, Phillies, Mets (or Mets Phillies), Nats, Fish
Mitchell: Braves, Mets, Phillies, Nationals, Marlins
Chase: Braves win…barely - I think the NL East comes down to the final week and they field three teams in the postseason. I also think the Nationals are a sneaky good offseason away from being back in the race in 2026. For the final standings, I’ll go Braves, Phillies, Mets, Nationals, and Marlins.
Eric: Braves, Mets, Phillies, Nationals, Marlins - The Marlins will almost certainly finish in last place, but the rest could honestly end up in any order. The Nationals have a really good young core that could outperform expectations. The Phillies did very little this offseason, but still have a lot of talent. The Mets just added Juan Soto. However, I think the Braves are the most complete team of the bunch and end up winning the division by a couple of games.
Steven: Braves, Mets, Phillies, Nationals, Marlins - The top three of the division will be some combination of the Braves, Mets, and Phillies. Atlanta should be back to their division-winning ways this season. Tim Hyers will do his best to ensure the offense does not repeat what happened in 2024. As long as the Braves stay healthy, they should come out on top but the Phillies and Mets won’t make it easy for them.
The consensus is pretty clear that the Braves will be back on top this season. It won't be easy with the Mets and Phillies having extremely talented rosters. 2025 should feature an exciting race for the division.
