The Atlanta Braves came into their matchup on Thursday against the Phillies hungry for their first series win of the season. The idea that they would have to wait this long to get a series win was unthinkable before the season started and unfortunately, the weather gods conspired yet again to spoil the Braves' opportunity after the sixth inning concluded.
The forecast for the Atlanta area tonight suggested that starting the game on time wasn't going to be too much of an issue, but the weather was going to get pretty dicey as the evening progressed. That proved to be correct as the Braves and Phillies are officially in a rain delay after the storms finally arrived at Truist Park.
The tarp is going on the field and we are currently in a rain delay. We will provide updates as soon as they are available.

**Update: 10:56 PM EST**
If you staying up late trying to watch the end of this game, your patience is being rewarded...we hope. According to an announcement by the Braves, the series finale against the Phillies should resume at 11:30 PM EST assuming the weather trends hold and the field isn't completely trashed.
Barring any further changes in the weather, tonight’s game is slated to resume at approximately 11:30pm ET. #RestorationOfPlay pic.twitter.com/YtRFw6Pr4p

**Update: 9:52 PM EST**
It doesn't look like the game is in danger of resuming very soon as the Braves just provided an update that they are still monitoring the weather. It is worth keeping an eye out for the tarp to come off, but both teams have games tomorrow in different cities, so we could see this one suspended.
We continue to monitor the weather and will provide updates as they become available. https://t.co/PasuVUMU45

However, Phillies beat writer Matt Gelb seems to think that both the Braves and Phillies are motivated to finish this game tonight instead of playing two innings later in the season. If true, we could be waiting a while because the radar doesn't show the rain leaving for at least an hour.
We're an hour into the rain delay, and all indications are the two teams will wait many hours to resume this game sometime tonight.

Braves vs. Phillies Rain Delay - Thursday, April 10: Updates, full details
The Braves and Phillies were in the middle of quite the battle before the game was delayed after the sixth inning. The score was 1-1 with Spencer Schwellenbach absolutely shoving aside from an ill-advised pitch to Kyle Schwarber and Jesus Luzardo pitching his way out of trouble multiple times. Had the Braves capitalized on one of there several scoring opportunities, they would be in line for a win right now if the game was called altogether.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first game of 2025 to get impacted by crummy weather in Atlanta as the series finale against the Marlins never got off the ground thanks to tons of rain in the area. The rain threat on Thursday isn't quite at the same scale, but these are some pretty gnarly storms that could be severe.
We don't know exactly if/when this game will resume as of now. Unfortunately, the storms rolling through the Atlanta area are pretty strong and the game won't continue until the threat of lightning leaves in addition to the rain. The line of storms is kind of broken up at the moment and could come through Atlanta in spurts, so there is a realchance that the powers that be will just bang the game altogether rather than deal with a delay really late into the night.
As updates become available as to when the game could resume or just information about the delay is released, we'll make sure that this post gets updated. Stay tuned, Braves fans, because we could be waiting for a little bit.
