Coming off back to back series wins, the Atlanta Braves' 2025 season has reached a tipping point. Perform well in this series against the Mets as well as during the rest of the month, Atlanta should be right back in the thick of things. If not, any hope of making the postseason will be all but dead. Unfortunately, arguably the most series of the season is on hold because of the weather.

On Tuesday, the Braves send Spencer Schwellenbach to the mound against lefty David Peterson from the Mets in what should be a tremendous pitching matchup. Keep an eye on Austin Riley this evening because he is one of the few Braves hitters that has had consistent success against Peterson other than Ronald Acuna Jr. who is tough on basically every pitcher.

Sadly, we have to wait for that matchup to unfold because the Braves game against the Mets on Tuesday is officially in a rain delay.

**UPDATE: 7:23 PM EST**

As expected, this delay wasn't too bad as the bad weather is moving off relatively quickly. As of this moment, the game will start at 8:10 PM EST barring any changes in the forecast this evening.

Braves vs. Mets Rain Delay - 6/17: When will this game get started?

Fortunately for all those involved, this does not appear to be a weather system rolling through that will cause this game to get postponed. There is a line of storms coming through that has gotten bigger as the afternoon went on, but it is moving pretty fast and it isn't one that is overly wide.

If the forecasted radar is even close to correct, a delay of around an hour seems to be the most likely outcome unless there is a big change in the weather.

When it is revealed as to when exactly this game is expected to start or if there are changes in the forecast, we will update this post with all the details you need to plan around this unfortunate delay. All signs point to this game happening tonight which is good, because the prospect of a pivotal doubleheader at some point against a very tough Mets team does not seem fun at all.
