The Atlanta Braves, without question, need to make some headway with this stretch of their schedule coming up. They really needed to perform better last week and while they "survived", they did not make up the ground they needed to and the odds of getting back to the postseason are dwindling by the day. Having an Angels team that is unfortunately without Ron Washington could be just what the doctor ordered, but crummy weather once again is raising it's ugly head.
The Braves made a last minute rotation swap and now Grant Holmes is set to start the first game of the series against LA who are sending Tyler Anderson to the mound. Braves fans are going to have to wait a bit as this game is officially in a rain delay.
Rain Delay Update: 7:18 PM EST
The Braves are now saying that the game will start a little late at 7:25 PM EST, but keep an eye on this game as the weather in the area is not ideal and we could see a stoppage of play during the game itself that may last a while.

Braves vs. Angels Rain Delay, 7/1/25: When will the game get started?
Things certainly did not look promising right before the game as beat reporters began tweeting that the Braves were getting the tarp ready. The radar didn't provide much cause for optimism either as the storms that were expected to pop up this evening were bigger and more widespread than initially thought. One thing to monitor once this game starts is if either team's starter warmed up to the point where the rain delay knocks them out of their starter which could be disastrous for either team's bullpens.
The Braves may think this is going to be a quick delay, but the forecast this evening is pretty sketchy. Unlike the northeast part of the country where it looks extremely challenging to play baseball tonight, you can probably expect the Braves to be able to get this game in. In addition to the forecast improving as we get deeper into the evening, there is going to be a pretty strong incentive to try and play tonight as playing a day/night doubleheader in the middle of the weeks sounds incredibly hot and unpleasant.
As more information becomes available during the course of this delay, we will update this post with estimated game start times and changes to the forecast (if any). We may be waiting for a bit for the weather to clear out, but watching some Braves baseball this evening still seems extremely likely unless the forecast really goes downhill.
