Atlanta Braves fans remember Ron Washington's time with the team fondly. In addition to being a huge personality that was incredibly quotable, Wash was hugely influential in the Braves clubhouse with many Braves players crediting him as one of the best coaches they have ever played under. Unfortunately, the recent health issues that sidelined him with the Angels appear to have taken a turn for the worse.
Angels general manager (and former Braves executive) Perry Minasian had previously said that Washington would be in his suite with him during games and that they expected him to return once his health issues had stabilized. However, there was a team meeting right before Friday's contest against the Nationals where it was revealed that Washington will not be returning this season to manage the Angels at all.
News: Ron Washington will not return this season, the Angels announced.

He’s been out with a medical issue the last week. Ray Montgomery will remain as interim manager.
Ron Washington is out for the season as Angels manager to deal with health issues
This is just an absolute shame. While it was painful to see Washington leave the Braves, you would struggle to find any player or fan that didn't want to see him succeed in his new role after he worked so hard to get back into the manager's seat. Hopefully this is just a speed bump and he is about to bounce back for 2026, but nothing is guaranteed especially at his age.
The good news is that while this does end Washington's season, Minasian did come out to say that the news Washington received was "fortunate" and there is a path forward for him to get healthy. As for what role Washington will play going forward with the Angels or elsewhere, it does seem as though it is too soon to tell given the uncertainty around Wash's health at the moment.
