The Atlanta Braves are making an addition to their cap in 2025 to commemorate hosting the All-Star Game. While this has become customary for teams, we haven't gotten a good look at what the Braves were doing until today.
Uni-Watch, a blog specializing in sports uniform news was able to get images to the Braves section in the MLB Style Guide, which not only revealed the new patch, but also released a surprising change to the road pairings.
Braves to add All-Star Game patch, wear red-brimmed cap on the road
The All-Star Game patch, which was leaked last week during MLB The Show's first trailer, is essentially the All-Star Game logo that was revealed last July, sans the MasterCard logo.
When the Braves were set to host the All-Star Game in 2021, they had two patches, one for the cap and one for the jersey. However, this season, it appears that the Braves will forgo a sleeve patch, with only the cap commemorating the Midsummer Classic.
Interestingly, it doesn't seem like the City Connect cap will feature an All-Star patch.
More surprisingly, however, is the hint that the Braves will only be wearing the red-brimmed cap going forward. Since 2009, the Braves have only worn their red-brimmed cap at home, while donning an all-navy cap on the road.
Since then, the Braves have only worn their iconic navy and red cap on the road in one series, brushing them off in 2017 in a series against the Oakland Athletics.
Uni-Watch didn't note whether the all navy cap is being retired, or whether it will still be an alternate option. Both road options appear to be paired with the traditional Braves cap.
This is the second piece of Braves uniform news we've had in the past week. When spring training began, the club quietly showed off an altered navy jersey which was darker than the version they wore last season.
