With Opening Day coming up on Thursday, the Atlanta Braves are making a lot of progress in getting their roster set. Braves manager Brian Snitker recently said that the last few roster spots remain up for grabs, the team has made a series of moves recently that have brought their search into focus.

That said, there have been some recent developments that have definitely thrown a wrinkle or two into the proceedings. Here is a look at some of the latest news about the Braves and how things are looking heading into the start of the 2025 season.

Braves News: Jose Suarez to receive Opening Day roster spot

When Atlanta traded Ian Anderson to the Angels on Sunday, it felt like both teams were just hoping that those players involved would benefit from a change of scenery. While Anderson can't seem to find the strike zone anymore, reliever Jose Suarez hasn't exactly been awesome the last couple of years and the initial thought was that the Braves could stash him in the minors given that he made it through the waiver wire after being DFA's last year.

However, the Braves seem to think that Suarez is better than his numbers suggest and it was revealed shortly after the trade that Suarez would be on Atlanta's Opening Day roster. This is certainly a bit risky, but the Braves do need someone in the bullpen as a long man and if he can turn things around here, Suarez could end up being a bargain.

Braves News: Atlanta's lineup ranked among best in baseball heading into 2025

When healthy (a huge caveat as it turns out), every seems to agree that the Braves has one of the best lineups in baseball. With All-Star level talent at nearly every position, Atlanta boasts one of the most potent lineups as well as arguably the deepest in MLB. Despite their injury issues last season, it is clear that experts haven't forgotten what the Braves are capable of.

According to recent rankings of all MLB lineups heading into Opening Day, the Braves have the #2 overall lineup in baseball just behind the Dodgers. Interestingly, the article did note that Ronald Acuna Jr. would be out until May. The list of teams that can boast this level of firepower being down a MVP candidate for a month-plus is extremely small.

Braves News: Chipper Jones' interview with Pitching Ninja is hysterical

While Chipper Jones can rub people the wrong way at times, there is no denying that the guy knows baseball and provides some terrific (and often hilarious) insight when he is focused on the game itself. Recently, Pitching Ninja Rob Friedman sat down with Jones to discuss a wide range of topics and Chipper did not disappoint.

The whole interview isn't out yet, but should be soon. However, Friedman did share some clips including a glowing assessment of how good Barry Bonds was as well as a truly hilarious (and pretty gross) story about being the subject of yet another Greg Maddux prank.
