The Atlanta Braves are lucky to have a collection of talented prospects in their minor league system. Atlanta's front office has done a great job rebuilding the system over the last few years. That hard work is beginning to pay off, as there is a plethora of prospects showing off. One of those impressive players is outfielder Patrick Clohisy.
Clohisy was drafted by the Braves in the 11th round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of St. Louis University. Since then, Clohisy has quickly become one of the most impressive players in Atlanta's system, and is making a very strong case to be added to the MLB roster soon. If the Braves actually do it, Clohisy could be an invaluable piece of the roster once the team reaches the postseason.
Braves prospect Patrick Clohisy has earned the opportunity to show what he can do in the big leagues
Clohisy is very good defensively in the outfield and extremely fast around the bases. That is a great profile for a fourth outfielder and pinch runner. It surely makes him a bit more valuable than someone like Dom Smith, who has no defensive versatility or value whatsoever.
The speed and defensive prowess are much better, and the Braves would retain a lefty bat for the bench. Clohisy has been hitting the cover off the ball since being called up to Triple-A Gwinnett. Clohisy has a .387/.461/.559 slash line, with eight doubles, three homers, 16 RBI, 16 walks, 28 strikeouts, and a 1.020 OPS. Clohisy will NOT be that good in the majors, but his ceiling has definitely gotten higher this season.
Being able to get on base so often has allowed Clohisy to show off his wheels. He has 19 stolen bases at Triple-A (56 total this season), which would be a massive addition for the Braves.
Throughout the month of July (since his debut on 7/11), Patrick Clohisy led the team in nearly EVERY statistical category. With 23 hits (11 XBH), 13 runs, 10 stolen bases, a .451 batting average (not a typo), and an OPS of 1.313 (also not a typo), he has been crowned our July… pic.twitter.com/yLRB0rjjbZ

Atlanta is ranked 25th in stolen bases this season with 62 of them, despite adding well-known baserunning guru Antoan Richardson to the coaching staff in the offseason. Fans expected the team might swipe more bases, but that just hasn't been the case.
Clohisy immediately changes things and gives the team an X-factor. Whether he is a bench piece or an everyday player. He brings something different to the table, and with the recent struggles, it could be nice to give the team a boost of energy.
