The trade deadline is finally over with, and it has been a flurry of changes since it began, although it definitely feel as so though Alex Anthopoulos missed the mark this time around. After acquiring Lane Thomas and Bailey Falter, the Braves added starter Tyler Mahle from the Giants and lefty reliever Brent Suter from the Reds. Unfortunately, other than some roster housekeeping involving Joey Bart and Eli White, there wasn't much exciting to speak of.
That wasn't the only organizational move made on Monday. The Braves have completed a flurry of minor league promotions as well.

These are all deserved promotions, but it was also necessary to allow Atlanta's recent talent acquired in the MLB Draft to be added to the minor league rosters. Top prospects Cam Caminiti, Eric Hartman, John Gil, and Owen Carey all graduated to Double-A Columbus after putting up great numbers with High-A Rome.
Replacing them on the Rome roster are fellow prospects Conor Essenburg, Luis Guanipa, Daniel Brooks, Cody Miller, and Austin Machado. Battery Power's Matt Powers pointed out that this move from Augusta to Rome was well overdue for Essenburg and Guanipa. They've been two really fun players to watch in 2026.
Essenburg played well enough to earn Carolina League Player of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks. This was after he was 8-for-14 with three homers and 11 RBI.

As for the group moving to Double-A, there are no surprises there. Caminiti is coming off of an amazing 14-strikeout performance. Hartman has been absolutely crushing the baseball, with 24 home runs and an .889 OPS. Gil continues to flash his ability to get on base and steal bags. Finally, Carey is starting to show what he can do.

The true test for all four of these players is going to be Double-A. That's where the Braves will be able to see just how talented they are. Caminiti's last outing earned him South Atlantic League Player of the Week honors. That's exactly what Atlanta wants to see from their number one pick from the 2024 draft. It's exciting to see so much talent moving up in Atlanta's system. Fans near Rome or Columbus should go see either of these teams play. They won't regret it.
