After the Atlanta Braves spent the last three years wearing 1970s, Hank Aaron-era inspired City Connects, it was time for a change. When Nike and MLB first announced the City Connect program, they stated that the lifespan of the uniforms would be roughly three years.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting what the Braves new City Connects would look like, and on Tuesday, the Braves unveiled them to the public. While the inspiration is obvious, they're missing a key element that would've made the uniform a slam dunk fan favorite.

Braves new City Connects just got revealed and they are a missed opportunity
While some MLB teams have gone more outside of the box with their City Connect jerseys, going outside of their team's color scheme with imagery completely outside anything the team has ever won in club history, the Braves stayed grounded to team history.
The first iteration was clearly an homage to the Henry Aaron 715th home-run era jerseys. This second iteration draws inspiration from the 1980s, when the team aired nationwide on TBS and Dale Murphy starred.
In the club's official announcement video, the Braves recreated the iconic Power Alley from Dale Murphy's Nike poster. Like the Murphy-era jerseys, the Braves will have baby blue pullovers with the city name running across the chest. Instead of the royal blue script with a white outline that was featured on the 1980s jersey, this jersey features a white script outlined in red. The front numbers are royal blue without an outline.
The Braves put an easter egg on the sleeve for longtime Braves fans, with the club's initials featured within TBS-inspired boxes. TBS, of course, broadcasted the Braves nationwide from 1973 until 2007.
The cap will feature the lowercase A on a light blue crown and royal blue bill. The lowercase A is more synonymous with the Aaron era than it is with the Murphy era, but it is a logo Murphy wore for the first five years of his career.
The big miss, however, is that the Braves will not be pairing the jersey with light blue pants that were used during Murphy's playing days. Instead, Atlanta will wear white pants with the jersey.
The Braves haven't announced when they'll wear the new uniform for the first time, but the previous jerseys were worn on Saturdays, and it would not be shocking if the team follows that schedule.
