It's bad enough that Atlanta Braves fans had to experience the pain of the 2025 season once. But to have to relive it a second time would surely be worse. Bleacher Report unsurprisingly gave Atlanta a failing grade for last season.
Fans hoped to put that behind them and look forward to a new start in 2026. Unfortunately, The Athletic's Jayson Stark decided Braves fans needed to be reminded of one of the worst games of the previous season.
Jayson Stark reminded Braves fans of the pain of being on the receiving end of Kyle Schwarber's four-homer game in 2025
When Eugenio Suarez blasted four home runs against the Braves in April, it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime thing that baseball fans wouldn't see again for a little while. This was unfortunately not the case whatsoever.
Three games in 2025 featured a player who hit four round trippers. Suarez was the first, and he was followed by rookie Nick Kurtz, who accomplished the feat in July. The Braves were victims in the third and final four-homer performance when Kyle Schwarber abused them in Philly on August 28th.
What made this worse is that Schwarber came into that game in a 0-for-20 skid. Atlanta pitching couldn't solve the lefty, as he was 4-for-6 with four homers and nine RBI. He even had a chance at the first five-homer game in MLB history.
Fortunately for the Braves, Vidal Brujan was on the mound and, ironically, a position player was able to keep Schwarber from homering a fifth time. It's a mercy fans are thankful for.
Philly's DH helped propel them to a 19-4 beatdown of the Braves. Cal Quantrill started that game, and he was responsible for nine of those runs over 3.1 innings. Austin Cox covered 3 innings and allowed 7 more runs. Wander Suero and Brujan combined for 1.2 innings with three runs allowed.
It was an all-around horrific experience for the Braves. Hopefully, the baseball gods are much kinder to them in 2026. No fan base should have to go through that more than once.
