Atlanta Braves fans have been very lucky to have some of the best broadcasters in baseball over the last few decades. It is something the organization has always prided itself on. When you have a medium that a majority of fans will use, they want to have a good experience.

We learned on Wednesday that one of Atlanta's most beloved voices has been nominated for one of the most prestigious awards given to MLB broadcasters.

Skip Caray has been named as a finalist for the 2026 Ford C. Frick Award. This is presented each year for excellence in broadcasting by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. He has been nominated among some of the most iconic voices in MLB history.

The full list of finalists includes: Brian Anderson, Joe Buck, Skip Caray, Rene Cardenas, Gary Cohen, Jacques Doucet, Duane Kuiper, John Rooney, Dan Shulman, and John Sterling.

Caray is one of the most iconic voices in Braves history and one that most fans are familiar with from the TBS days. However, he was a huge part of Atlanta sports for a while.

He joined TBS in 1972 as the voice of the Atlanta Hawks and was soon added to the roster to call Braves’ games in 1976. Caray would spend 33 years calling games for Atlanta until he passed away in 2008.

He had a phenomenal career and won the Georgia Sportscaster of the Year Award six times. Caray even took home a local Emmy for sportscasting. It's hard to forget how incredible some of his calls were. From the famous Sid Bream slide to calling the final out of the 1995 World Series, Caray is a voice Braves fans will remember for a generation.

He even had some funny quips here and there when things weren't going well such as "It's cocktail hour." Braves fans in 2025 probably enjoyed quite a few cocktails after the disaster this season was.

One that always gets a nice chuckle is when the Braves played the Marlins and Caray stated, "The bases are loaded, just like Jack McKeon probably wishes he was." I imagine the Braves made a lot opposing managers feel this way over the years.

The winner of the 2026 Frick Award will be announced on Dec. 10 at the Winter Meetings in Orlando. Whoever takes home the accolade will then be honored on July 25, 2026, during Hall of Fame Weekend in Cooperstown.
