The 2025 season is coming up fast and thankfully the Atlanta Braves start actually playing in games this weekend. It goes without saying that Braves fans are excited to see where the team stands as well as to get a better look at some of the prospects that could become a part of Atlanta's roster in the near future.
Of course, we already know that the Braves' roster is loaded on paper. Nearly every position has at least one player that could be considered elite which is something very, very few teams can say. However, a few of the Braves' most talented players have yet to make their first All-Star Game and that could easily change in 2025.
Here are the Atlanta Braves players who could make their first All-Star Game in 2025
Given how well Atlanta players typically do in voting and the quality of their players overall, it is unlikely that the Braves will be able to get a player into the game based solely on needing someone from their roster to represent them in the game. To get in, Braves players have to be legitimately awesome and it is only worth thinking about guys that actually have the talent to do that.
With that in mind, here is a look at the Braves players who could get their first All-Star nods in 2025 and get to play in front of the friendly Truist Park crowd.
Michael Harris II
It is kind of hard to believe that Harris hasn't made it to an All-Star Game yet given that he won Rookie of the Year in 2022 and is so highly regarded. Unfortunately, getting called up later in the year in 2022 along with some injury issues and slow starts have kept him from getting the nod so far.
Assuming he can avoid the injured list and just do what he is capable of on a consistent basis, Harris is basically a walking 25/25 season with a higher ceiling than that to go along with being one of the better defensive centerfielders in the league. That sort of pace in the first half while playing on one of the better and more popular teams in MLB could easily get him into the ASG.
Spencer Schwellenbach
While there were plenty of people that liked Schwellenbach as a pitching prospect before he was called up, few thought he would do what he did last year. In 21 starts and 123.2 innings, Schwellenbach posted a 3.35 ERA with 127 strikeouts and just 23 walks. That pace alone would put him in the conversation as one of the better starters in the National League had he not been promoted in late May.
Getting into the All-Star Game as a pitcher can be tricky because those are typically slots where the cellar-dwelling teams get their token representatives. There are few actual merit-based slots and competition for those spots will be fierce. However, don't sleep on Schwellenbach making a real run at it especially if he starts the 2025 season off hot.
Raisel Iglesias
It is wild that Iglesias has yet to make an All-Star Game yet during his 10 year career especially given how many bad teams he played for early on that couldn't have had many candidates outside of Joey Votto. Since debuting in 2015, only five qualified relievers have accumulated more fWAR than Iglesias' 11.7 and they are Kenley Jansen, Aroldis Chapman, Edwin Diaz, Liam Hendrick, and Josh Hader. Pretty good company to have.
Coming off one of the better seasons of his career in 2024 and heading into his walk year, Iglesias could easily change that this season. Again, getting in as a reliever on a really good team is tough given MLB's stance that every team needs at least one All-Star, but Iglesias has the ability to be among the NL's best relievers and deserves a chance to go if he pulls it off.
