It's been a productive offseason for the Atlanta Braves so far. The roster is starting to take shape, and that has built some excitement for 2026. However, there is still a bit of fine-tuning left to accomplish. The roster needs to be rounded out with a couple of moves, either via trade or free agency. However, it doesn't have to be a blockbuster move. There are some smaller moves Atlanta could make to impact their chances next season.

Atlanta's offensive needs are taken care of with the moves made so far. But some needs remain in the pitching department.

Here are two small signings that would round out the Braves' offseason nicely

Tommy Kahnle

In 2025, Kahnle struggled a bit with the Tigers with a 4.43 ERA over 63 innings. His walk rate was unusually high, with 31 walks compared to 50 strikeouts. Before that, he produced a 2.38 ERA over two seasons with the Yankees, including 38 walks and 94 strikeouts.

Kahnle relies heavily on his changeup, and it was a bit less effective last year, with just a 26.4% whiff rate in 2025 compared to 38.9% in 2024. However, it's worth the Braves taking a chance on a one-year deal to give them a different look out of the bullpen.

JoJo Romero

Romero had a breakout season with the Cardinals last season with a 2.07 ERA. Over 61 innings, he had a 3.28 FIP, 29 walks, and 55 strikeouts. The lefty would be a nice addition to the bullpen. He isn't a big strikeout arm, but he is excellent at inducing groundball outs.

Trading for him could prove to be difficult, as he is coming off a career year and is in his final year of arbitration. The Cardinals will likely want a decent return for him.

These are easy ways for the Braves to deepen their roster strength and put a great product on the field. Alex Anthopoulos always seems to make moves no one expects, so neither of these names could be on his radar. It will be interesting to see what they do the rest of the offseason.
