While the 2025 Atlanta Braves are sitting at home, there are still a few former Braves who made it to the postseason. It's always sad not to see your team out there, but rooting for former players can help make things slightly easier.
There are a couple of former Braves players who are having a great time in the playoffs. However, there are also a couple who performed at their worst at the inopportune time. Let's take a look at the good and bad performances from former Atlanta players.
Here are the former Braves players that have shown the most (and the least) in the 2025 playoffs
Kevin Gausman
Gausman hasn't always been lights out in the postseason with a career 4.18 ERA. However, he's off to an amazing start in 2025 with a 1.35 ERA over 6.2 innings. The Braves probably wish they had him back right now as he's pitched very well since leaving Atlanta in 2019. Gausman had a 3.59 ERA over 193 innings this season, with 50 walks and 189 strikeouts. The right-hander enters the final year of his five-year, $110 million contract in 2026.
William Contreras
Speaking of wishing you had someone back, Contreras has been impressive in the playoffs. He is batting .300 over 20 at-bats with one double, two home runs, three RBI, and a .983 OPS. While it has been sad to see him succeed away from Atlanta, if he hadn't left, Braves fans wouldn't have gotten to see the force of nature that is Drake Baldwin. Still, it's hard not to root for Contreras and the Brew Crew.
Dansby Swanson
Swanson had his clutch moments in the playoffs with the Braves, but fans remember all too well how he disappeared in 2022. Unfortunately, 2025 was another disappointment for the shortstop. He batted a miserable .154/.241/.192 with one double, one RBI, three walks, and an eye-popping 15 strikeouts with the Cubs.
Max Fried
After a great regular season with the Yankees, Fried reminded everyone why he is not someone you want taking the ball in the postseason. The memory of him pitching Game 6 of the 2021 World Series will always be incredible, but overall, he's not very good in the playoffs. He fooled New York fans in the Wild Card game against Boston. But the Blue Jays exposed him as they torched him for seven runs over three innings with two walks and one strikeout.
