Michael Harris II has been on a heater lately with the Atlanta Braves. His season has been one to forget, but a recent change in batting stance seems to have returned his confidence. He put on a show for Braves fans against the Rangers on Saturday, hitting for the first cycle of his career.

Harris' almost cycle would have been the first for the Braves in four years since two postseason heroes accomplished the feat. Harris took care of the hardest piece of the cycle with a triple in his first at-bat of the game. He followed that with a double and a game-tying home run. This left him with a single to earn one of the toughest offensive achievements.

Instead, Harris did something even more rare than a cycle (at least in recent history). Harris lined a pitch to left field that got past the defender and rolled all the way to the wall to give Money Mike his fourth extra base hit of the game.

Michael Harris II added his name to Braves lore with four extra base hit game

The last Braves players to hit for the cycle were Freddie Freeman and Eddie Rosario during the 2021 season. Freeman accomplished the second cycle of his career in August against the Marlins. Rosario earned the first cycle of his career against the Giants in September. You have to go a bit further back than that to find a four extra base hit game from a Braves players as Freeman did that back in 2017.

There have been eight cycles in franchise history over the years. The other six players to accomplish this feat are Mark Kotsay (2008), Albert Hall (1987), William Collins (1910), John Bates (1907), Duff Cooley (1904), and Herman Long (1896).

Harris has really started to turn things around, and he's an easy guy to root for. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come.
