As annoying as it is for fans, injuries were always going to be a big part of the narrative once the Atlanta Braves started up spring training. In addition to the usual bumps and bruises that arise during camp, which every team deals with, the Braves have a number of players coming off injuries, including Grant Holmes, Reynaldo Lopez, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies. The injury bug has already claimed Spencer Schwellenbach. However, no one had Jurickson Profar as a potential health concern coming into camp.
A polarizing figure amongst Braves fans after his PED suspension last year, Profar did not show any indication that he was dealing with a health concern upon his return to the lineup. However, upon his arrival at spring training, Profar revealed that he had sports hernia surgery in November, although it shouldn't impact his availability this spring.
Jurickson Profar underwent sports hernia surgery in November. The procedure required six weeks of recovery. He doesn’t have any restrictions entering camp. He felt discomfort in September and again when he began his offseason workouts.

Jurickson Profar's surprise surgery news is a reminder that the Braves cannot escape the injury bug
It is almost getting ridiculous at this point. Every time there is a moment of calm and things seem to be settling down for Atlanta, another injury issue pops up. Thankfully, Profar addressed this issue early enough in the offseason that he could ramp back up to normal activity this spring. A similar hernia issue befell Rangers star Corey Seager, but closer to the start of the season, and it limited him a good deal during camp.
However, Profar's injury news isn't going to help with his doubters who question whether or not his production in 2024 and his ability to stay on the field were aided by pharmaceuticals. Those doubts would be quieted somewhat by a strong spring performance, but those doubts are going to follow him, probably until the end of his career.
Thankfully, Profar's injury situation is more anecdotal for the moment. He says that he isn't going to be limited at all this spring, and there is a good chance that we won't hear much about the injury again. That said, this is just another health situation for Braves fans to keep an eye on in camp, and that list just appears to keep growing and growing.
