The Atlanta Braves finally reached the .500 mark last night, and each update fans have gotten on the health of Ronald Acuna Jr. has been promising. However, there has been a lingering cloud of drama over Acuna Jr. and the Braves ever since his comments on social media that seemed to blast Brian Snitker for double standards less than a month ago.
On Wednesday afternoon, Acuna Jr. addressed his comments for the first time publicly. The Braves superstar is currently rehabbing with Triple-A Gwinnett, but before his return, it was important he addressed his viral comments from a few weeks ago. To the surprise of no one, Ronald was upfront in his reasoning for his early season distraction.
Acuna apologized to Braves teammates and Brian Snitker
After the post made national headlines, Acuna Jr. said he took responsibility for the distraction and apoligized to both his teammates and manager Brian Snitker. Acuna Jr. said the post came in a moment of frustration as he had to sit idly by while the team was in an early season slump.
It's admirable for a player like Acuna Jr. to admit what led to the moment of weakness, although the message may not have been entirely wrong in of itself. What it really does is simply show how much Acuna cares about the Braves success, and desperately wants to get back on the field so that he can help Atlanta win.
Thankfully, both the team and Acuna Jr. can move past this and focus on his return. Everyone is eagerly awaiting the return of the 2023 MVP, and the Braves' offense could certainly use his talents right now. All reports indicate Acuna Jr. is feeling good and looks as good as ever at the plate. Hopefully, now that this is put to rest we can focus on a healthy Acuna Jr. returning to provide this team a spark.
