Word that Ronald Acuña Jr. was dealing with an Achilles' tendon injury after leaving Tuesday's game rocked Atlanta Braves fans who just want some source of happiness at this point. While Acuña Jr. was able to jog off the field under his own power, the image of Acuña Jr. in a walking boot was the stuff of nightmares and had fans fearing the worst (as well as being royally pissed at the Braves for letting him play at all).

The Braves made Acuña Jr. going to the injured list official earlier on Wednesday morning, but we hadn't yet gotten word as to how severe his injury was. We now at least have a little more clarity thanks to an update from Braves beat writer Mark Bowman and the news was largely positive.

Early indications are that the Braves and Ronald Acuña Jr. may have dodged a bullet

Again, the MRI and other tests are going to be the biggest factor here, so don't go buying balloons and throwing a party just yet as this could easily still go sideways. However, the nugget from Bowman here is that the location and results of the early tests seem to show that Acuña Jr. doesn't appear to have suffered a serious injury.

Assuming the follow-up tests verify that, there is a chance that Acuña Jr. could be playing again in two or three weeks which would be just fantastic. That said, this is a lost season and the Braves would do well to be really careful with how they handle their franchise star. A lengthier absence or perhaps more time at DH the rest of the season could be wise even if Acuña Jr. gets good news from the doctors.

For now, it is still wait-and-see as we all await official results from Acuña Jr.'s tests. For once during this godforsaken 2025 season, it would be nice to get good news for a change and give all the Braves fans who continue to follow along something to look forward to.
