After spending the first seven seasons of his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves from 2006-12, right-handed pitcher Peter Moylan officially made his return to the organization on this day, March 11, back in 2015, as the club signed the veteran to a minor league deal.
This day in Braves history: Atlanta brings back Moylan
As mentioned previously, Moylan originally began his MLB career with seven consecutive seasons in Atlanta from 2006-12 prior to joining the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2013. Moylan would go on to pitch only one season in Los Angeles, and later joined the Houston Astros organization where he would be released in March of 2014 prior to appearing in a game with the club.
After being released by Houston, Moylan would remain a free agent until March 11, 2015, where, as mentioned previously, the Braves would bring back the right-hander on a minor league deal.
In 2015, Moylan would go on to see time with both Atlanta and Triple-A Gwinnett, a majority of which came in the minor leagues. With the-then Gwinnett Braves, the right-hander owned a 2-0 record with a 3.14 ERA, six saves, and a 24:9 K:BB ratio across 28.2 IP, which also translated to 27 appearances out of the Triple-A bullpen.
With the Braves that season, Moylan would make 22 relief appearances out of Atlanta's bullpen, where he owned a 1-0 record with a 3.48 ERA and an 8:0 K:BB ratio across 10.1 IP.
At the conclusion of the 2015 season, Moylan would enter free agency, and shortly after signed with the Kansas City Royals on a minor league deal. Moylan would remain with Kansas City through the 2017 campaign before returning to Atlanta one final time in 2018, which would be the final season of his 12-year MLB career, nine of which were spent with the Braves.
