After managing to get at least one game when the Dodgers came into town, the Atlanta Braves will continue their homestand with a series against the Phillies. Game one will feature Aaron Nola on the mound for Philadelphia while Dylan Dodd will be starting for the Braves.

The Braves just finished an incredibly tough stretch of games against some of the better teams in the league. However, the Phillies always play the Braves tough and Atlanta will be looking to avenge their playoff exit last year.

Braves vs. Phillies Pitching Matchup

We'll start with the Phillies' side as there is a lot more information to take in. The Braves are very familiar with Nola, but it is worth noting that he hasn't been nearly as dominant this year as in years past. In 10 starts this season, Nola has posted a 4.31 ERA with 53 strikeouts in 62.2 innings of work. However, he is also coming off a start where he went seven innings and struck out 10 batters. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Austin Riley have had a good amount of success against Nola, so hopefully that continues this evening.

Dylan Dodd will be making his fourth major league start for the Braves on Thursday. Atlanta called Dylan Dodd earlier in the day in a move that surprised exactly no one. Dodd was basically the only guy that COULD start tonight and it has become abundantly clear that the Braves' attempts at bullpen games was not a sustainable course of action. While the Phillies don't have any experience against Dodd, there is cause of optimism that the lefty Dodd can keep Bryce Harper in check as Bryce has just a .366 OPS against southpaws so far this year.
