The Atlanta Braves had been in a lot of close games during their recent hot streak, so it was rather nice that their victory in the first game in his series against the Colorado Rockies was pretty drama free. Atlanta hopes to keep the good times rolling by sending Jared Shuster to the mound for game two.
It is worth noting that the Braves will be keeping Ozzie Albies at the #2 spot in the order despite the fact that the Rockies will be running out a righty today. The move was often clamored for when there was a lefty on the mound, but it is going to be very interesting to see how he does against righties if this is a move that the Braves stick with for a while.
Braves vs. Rockies Pitching Matchup
Jared Shuster will be making his seventh career start in the big leagues on Friday, so it goes without saying that the Rockies and Shuster have no experience against one another. Shuster has been decidedly okay in the big leagues this year as your typical "goes around five innings and gives up three runs or so" sort of guy. One note, in his last two starts combined (10.1 innings), he has struck out a grand total of one batter and that is not sustainable.
For the Rockies, Dinelson Lamet gets the hill and his 10.38 ERA coming into today in 21.2 innings of work (15 appearances) isn't exactly intimidating. It will be at least a little curious to see how long the Rockies let him go after using three relievers last night. The Braves have a little bit of experience against Lamet with Ronald Acuna Jr., Orlando Arcia, and Marcell Ozuna all having homers off of him previously.
