Welcome to House That Hank Built’s latest series: Guessing random Atlanta Braves players from the past! Take the opportunity to participate in our daily guessing game every morning at 3:00 pm EST. We will give you five hints at a random player who donned an Atlanta Braves jersey and see if you can guess from there! Have fun and no cheating! Here we go! 

Hint #1 (Career Length): This player spent a total of 5 seasons in the MLB. During this time, he made appearances for the following teams: Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves.

Hint #2 (Jersey Numbers): During his 5 seasons in the big leagues, this player wore the following jersey numbers: 37.  He wore 37 for the Atlanta Braves.

Hint #4 (Braves Stats): This player was with the Braves from 2010-2013. In his four seasons with Atlanta he started 46 games and pitched to a 14-11 record, 3.23 ERA, and 3.34 FIP.

Hint #5 (Random Fact): This player was leading MLB in ERA during the 2012 season into June. Unfortunately, he then suffered an elbow injury that would require Tommy John surgery.

Answer: Brandon Beachy

Beachy looked to be on the way to a promising big league career during the early 2010's. He really established himself during 2011 season, posting a 3.68 ERA and 3.19 FIP in almost 150 IP. He carried that momentum into 2012 and came out the gates hot, sadly an untimely elbow injury cut his breakout season short.

Brandon attempted to work his way back from TJ surgery in 2013 with Atlanta, but sadly he was never the strikeout pitcher he once was. His curveball didn't have the same bite, and his numbers suffered. Beachy's tale just goes to show that successfully coming back from TJ surgery isn't automatic everyone.
