Answer: Christian Bethancourt

Christian Bethancourt was signed internationally by the Atlanta Braves and made his MLB debut in 2013 at the ripe age of 21. He was with the Braves from 2012-2015. Over this time, he did not live up to the hype.

Many believed that Bethancourt possessed talent that would allow him to be the Atlanta backstop of the future. After hitting only .219 with 2 home runs and 21 runs batted in over 80 games, the Braves organization realized Bethancourt was not the best fit.

Since 2015, he has played for the Padres, A’s and Tampa Bay Rays. He seemed to have found a good role with the Rays where he appeared in 104 games. Bethancourt is likely to spend his entire career as a role player and this is something that he seems to be embracing.
