Welcome to House That Hank Built’s latest series: Guessing random Atlanta Braves players from the past! Take the opportunity to participate in our daily guessing game every morning at 3:00 pm EST. We will give you five hints at a random player who donned an Atlanta Braves jersey and see if you can guess from there! Have fun and no cheating! Here we go! 

Hint #1 (Career Length): This player has spent a total of 15 seasons in the MLB. During this time, he has made appearances for the following teams: Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves.

Hint #2 (Jersey Numbers): During his 15 seasons in the big leagues, this player wore the following jersey numbers: 51, 45, 41, 39, 43 and 19. He wore 19 with the Braves.

Hint #3 (Individual Accolades): This player was an all-star one season in 2012. He also won the Cy Young Award that season and finished 14th in MVP voting. 

Hint #4 (Braves Stats): This player was with the Braves in 2017. He went 10-10 with a 4.26 ERA. 

Hint #5 (Random Fact): This player was known for his knuckleball. He was actually one of the last knuckleballers to have a successful career.

Answer: R.A. Dickey

R.A. Dickey made his MLB debut in 2001 for the Texas Rangers at age 26. He did not play in 2002 or 2007 but was in the league every other year until 2017. 

Dickey was a veteran that was brought in by the Braves organization to be a clubhouse leader. A lot of Braves fans will remember Dickey as unsuccessful in his time in Atlanta but he actually was not that bad in 190 innings pitched.
