Welcome to House That Hank Built’s latest series: Guessing random Atlanta Braves players from the past! Take the opportunity to participate in our daily guessing game every morning at 3:00 pm EST. We will give you five hints at a random player who donned an Atlanta Braves jersey and see if you can guess from there! Have fun and no cheating! Here we go! 

Hint #1 (Career Length): This player has spent a total of 11 seasons in the MLB. During this time, he has made appearances for the following teams: Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves.

Hint #2 (Jersey Numbers): During his 11 seasons in the big leagues, this player wore the following jersey numbers: 19, 5, 11, 6 and 0. He wore 19 with the Braves.

Hint #3 (Individual Accolades): This player was never an all-star nor did he acquire any other individual award in his playing career. However, he did finish 6th in Rookie of the Year voting in 2007  and 20th in MVP voting in 2009. 

Hint #4 (Braves Stats): This player was with the Braves from 2007-2010. Over this span he was a .291 hitter with 29 home runs and 183 runs batted in. 

Hint #5 (Random Fact): This player was a shortstop with the nickname “El Gambao”. He also played third base later in his career.

Answer: Yunel Escobar

Yunel Escobar made his MLB debut with the Braves in 2007 at the age of 24. After 11 seasons, he retired following the 2017 campaign. 

Escobar is a career .282 hitter with 90 home runs. He was known to have a short temper at times and has some notable ejections to look back on from his playing career.
