Welcome to House That Hank Built’s latest series: Guessing random Atlanta Braves players from the past! Please take the opportunity to participate in our weekly guessing game. Hint #1 (Career Length): This player has spent a total of 17 seasons in the MLB. During this time, he has made appearances for the following teams: New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Oakland A’s, Texas Rangers, California Angels, New York Mets, and Atlanta Braves.

Hint #2 (Jersey Numbers): During his 17 seasons in the big leagues, this player wore the following jersey numbers: 15, 16, 18, 33, 7, and 17. He wore the numbers 18 and 15 with the Braves.

Hint #3 (Individual Accolades): This player was a two-time All-Star and was a part of the 1974 Oakland A’s World Series championship. 

Hint #4 (Braves Stats): This player was with the Braves from 1981-1986. Over this time, he hit .278 with 67 homers and 279 runs batted in. 

Hint #5 (Random Fact): This player was an outfielder who hit and threw left-handed.

Answer: Claudell Washington

Claudell Washington made his MLB debut at just 19 years of age back in 1974 with the Oakland A’s. He spent 17 seasons in the big leagues, 6 of which were with the Atlanta Braves. 

For his career, Washington was a .278 hitter with 164 homers and 824 runs batted in. Like many across the world, Washington sadly passed away in June of 2020.
