We will give you five hints at a random player who donned an Atlanta Braves jersey and see if you can guess from there! Have fun and no cheating! This player is probably low on your list of favorite Braves, so let's see if you can get it.

Hint #1: This player spent a total of 17 seasons in the majors. He was with the Boston Red Sox for 8 years, the Los Angeles Dodgers for 4, the Atlanta Braves for 3, the Texas Rangers for 1, Cleveland for 1, the New York Yankees for 1 and the Seattle Mariners for 1.

Hint #2: This player was selected for two All-Star games (2000 and 2002). In 2002, he also finished 3rd in American League Cy Young Award voting and 19th in American League Most Valuable Player voting.

Hint #3: The Atlanta Braves acquired this sinkerball pitcher in 2009 via free agent signing. He agreed to terms on a 4-year/$60 million contract. In 2011, the Braves traded him to Cleveland for a minor-league pitcher (Chris Jones).

Hint #4: Over his career, this pitcher posted a 176-157 win/loss record. His career ERA is 4.03. He won one World Series title with the Red Sox in 2004. In four of his 17 seasons, he led the National League in games started as a pitcher. Two of those seasons were the most in baseball. When he was with the Braves in 2011, he also had more losses than any other pitcher (17).

Hint #5: In his career, this player wore jersey numbers: 36, 43, 32, 23, 26, 34, and 55. When he was with the Atlanta Braves, number 32 was on the back of his jersey.

Answer: Derek Lowe

Derek Lowe was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 8th round of the 1991 MLB draft. It was not until 1997 at the age of 24 that Lowe made his MLB debut. He hung up the cleats at the age of 39 after the 2013 season.

Lowe was in the Braves starting rotation from 2009-2011. During that time, he was 40-39 with a 4.57 ERA. When the Braves signed Lowe to a four-year contract, this was not exactly what they had in mind.

During all three seasons, Derek Lowe was in an Atlanta Braves uniform, and the team finished 2nd or 3rd in the division. We all know that the expectation is for this team to win the NL East every season and anything less than that is underachieving. Unfortunately, Lowe was a contributor to those unwanted results.
