Eddie Rosario has been a big piece for the Atlanta Braves since he was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in 2021. He was a major part of the World Series run and helped the team in big situations all postseason.
His performance tapered off a bit in 2022 as he finished the season batting .212/.259/.328 with 5 HR and 24 RBI. That was over 80 games played as he was platooned in the outfield all year. This was definitely disappointing to see after an electric performance over his 33 games played for the Braves in 2021 after returning from injury.
2023 was off to a similar start to last season for Rosario as he was batting .239/.269/.405 with a .674 OPS through the first two months of the season. Very disappointing numbers from a player who was so clutch at one point for Atlanta.
However, the month of June has been a completely different story for Eddie Rosario. Over 15 games played so far, the Puerto Rican native has a line of .362/.422/.845 with a 1.267 OPS and 198 OPS+. Those are incredibly impressive numbers and he's hit 8 home runs and driven in 19 runs during that stretch as well.
That performance has him leading the National League in OPS, slugging percentage, RBI, and home runs for the month of June. Some other impressive numbers are a .521 wOBA and a 231 wRC+ which is mind-blowing.
He's been hitting the ball to all fields and making solid contact. This success only further deepens an already treacherous offense for opposing pitchers to navigate. Something just seemed to click for Rosario in that series against the Diamondbacks and he's continued that success through the month.
Will Rosario be able to sustain such a high level of success offensively? It's certainly possible but I wouldn't bet on it. However, it's a welcome sight to see Rosario getting on the right track and contributing like fans expect him to.
