The Atlanta Braves have had to deal with a fair bit of inclement weather this season which has already made their remaining schedule pretty interesting to say the least. Just last night, the weather gods were unkind and the Braves' matchup with the Cardinals was rained out and forced the need to play a doubleheader today.
UPDATE: Today's doubleheader between the Braves and Cardinals has an updated start time of 2:30 p.m. EST for game one.
Unfortunately, the weather in St. Louis is still proving to be uncooperative as the first game of the doubleheader is officially going to not start on time due to rain in the area of Busch Stadium.
Braves vs. Cardinals Rain Delay: Updates, start time
The forecast during Tuesday night's matchup got worse and worse as the rain delay persisted and forced the game to be called. Based on what the forecast for St. Louis looks like today, it does feel likely they will be able to play at some point today as the chance of rain decreases throughout the afternoon. The only real question is whether or not the field will be in playable condition after all of the bad weather recently, but the odds seem to be pretty good.
This is a big series for the Braves against an opponent that has plagued them historically in the Cardinals. The first game of the twin bill is currently set to be started by Reynaldo Lopez facing Kyle Gibson while Bryce Elder is extremely likely to get called up for the nightcap start against Matthew Liberatore.
Once we get more concrete information as to when the game(s) are set to actual get going, this post will be updated with that information. Until, sit back and relax while Atlanta waits for the weather to pass and we can get back to watching Braves baseball again.
