The Atlanta Braves suffered a tough loss on Saturday night as they couldn't find very much success offensively. They mustered just five hits in their 4-1 loss to the Padres. Atlanta hopes to at least split the series with San Diego with a win during Sunday's series finale.
This team has proven time and time again that they have short-term memories and can put a tough loss behind them. They did, however, potentially lose catcher Travis d'Arnaud to the seven-day IL for concussion symptoms after taking a hard hit at home plate from Rougned Odor. It definitely isn't fun to see the injuries slowly piling up for the Braves.
Braves vs. Padres Game 4 Preview
Dylan Dodd will take the mound for the Atlanta Braves as they conclude their series with the Padres. Dodd had a nice debut for the Braves in his last outing as he allowed just one run on six hits with three strikeouts against the Cardinals. He will face another tough challenge with a powerful Padres lineup on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.
Dodd will square off with former Mets relief pitcher Seth Lugo who has assumed a starting role for San Diego in 2023. Lugo looked incredible for the Padres in his last outing as he tossed seven innings allowing just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts. Hopefully, the Braves familiarity with Lugo from his time with New York will work in their favor.
Let's hope the Atlanta bats come to life for the series finale and take that momentum into the next series as they welcome the Cincinnati Reds into town for the next few days. This team is certainly capable of going on a long winning streak before we know it.
