It was relatively quiet days for the Atlanta Braves yesterday. We didn't have any new roster cuts after the team did a pretty significant culling earlier this week, although you can be assured that more cuts are coming especially as guys return from the World Baseball Classic.

There was a spring training game, though, and it did feature Spencer Strider doing the thing where he strikes out a bunch of guys. However, it was not his sharpest game and things spiraled out of control quickly once he left the game. The end result was the Braves losing by the final score of 9-3.

The other big piece of news when it comes to the Braves was that the long expected bankruptcy of Bally Sports has officially happened. For the moment, there won't be any changes to where you will find Braves games on TV. However, if they start missing payments and the courts get involved, MLB may have to start producing the games and things could get weird after that.

MLB News

No one wants to see a player injured on the field, but it is particularly brutal when the injury is a result of a freak accident. Edwin Diaz closed out Puerto Rico's win in dominating fashion last night which allowed Puerto Rico to advance in the World Baseball Classic. However, during the celebration on the field, Diaz went down in a heap grabbing his right leg. Diaz had to be helped off the field as he could not put any weight on the leg and ended up being rolled into the clubhouse in a wheelchair. The usual Mets jokes aside, it was a brutal scene and hopefully things aren't as bad as they looked.

We also have an old friend alert, although the news isn't good there either. Mark Melancon is entering the second year of his two year deal with the Diamondbacks needing to bounce back from a decidedly mediocre 2022 season. However, it appears that the injury bug has bitten the former Braves reliever as he has a shoulder injury of unknown severity that is going to mean that he is going to start the season on the injured list.
