Happy Monday to all the Atlanta Braves fans out there! The weekend was a good one for the Braves as they were able to take two out of three from the Pirates and become the first team in MLB to secure a spot in the playoffs. Unsurprisingly, Ronald Acuna Jr. played a key role yet again with a two-run single to give the Braves the lead late and further bolster his NL MVP campaign.

With a postseason appearance locked up, the only questions left now are whether or not the Braves will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs (which is looking very likely) and when the Braves will clinch the NL East. Well, the Braves magic number to win the East is currently 6, but here is an explanation of what magic numbers are and how they can help explain playoff scenarios.

The other big bit of news from the weekend was that the Braves finally retired Andruw Jones number. It was long overdue given how amazing Andruw was with the Braves, but it is great that Atlanta finally gave him the honor. Now the Hall of Fame voters need to get things together and put him in Cooperstown.

There were some other pieces that went up on the site over the weekend including a look at which Braves players' (or managers') uniform numbers could be the next ones to be retired. We also took a look at the ups and downs of Michael Soroka's career and why it just doesn't seem fair how things have gone.

MLB News

Elsewhere in the league, the Yankees got some rough news as it was announced that the much hyped Jasson Dominguez suffered a torn UCL and will require surgery. Definitely tough news for a Yankees team that was finally looking somewhat interesting as the 2023 season was coming to a close.

Finally, the fine folks over at MLB dot com put together a list of the best current players who haven't won a World Series yet. While it is unlikely especially with the Braves around, it would be kinda nice for Joey Votto to win a ring before he retires. He is a treasure.
