The Atlanta Braves announced yet another injury on Friday as Dylan Lee was placed on the 15-day IL with shoulder inflammation. This move was backdated to May 17th and comes after a less than stellar outing for Lee against the Rangers.
Dylan Lee has been a big part of the Braves bullpen this year as Brian Snitker has called on him a lot. So far this season, Lee has posted a 3.10 ERA with seven walks and twenty-three strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work. His last outing in Texas saw him allow three runs on six hits in just 1.1 innings.
Atlanta made a corresponding move by reinstating reliever Lucas Luetge from the injured list after he complete his rehabilitation assignment. Luetge was recovering from inflammation in his bicep and has been out since mid-April. Lucas was struggling a bit as he allowed six runs and eight hits over 6.2 innings pitched so far.
Hopefully Luetge can come back strong and provide some solid innings for a struggling Atlanta bullpen. It's been a rough stretch for the bullpen as of late and now have a combined ERA of 3.89 over 157.1 innings pitched.
The bullpen has been a big strength for the team in recent seasons so it's very hard to see them struggle the way that they have. However, it is still early in the season and there is still time to improve and get things back on track for what we expect to see on a daily basis from them.
