Braves looking to hire a new “The Freeze” to embarrass fans in 2024
The Atlanta Braves have a “Mascot Sprinter” opening. Do you have what it takes?
Truist Park is one of the best venues in all of Major League Baseball to catch a game. The natural beauty and pre-game atmosphere around the Battery are not the only reasons Atlanta Braves games are so special. Fan interactions and events between innings separate Atlanta from the rest of the league as far as entertainment is concerned.
The Braves have classics such as Hat Shuffle or The Home Depot tool race. However, the most iconic and memorable event featured on the field in recent years has been “Beat the Freeze.” Atlanta is now looking for someone to BE the Freeze.
As Spring Training nears its conclusion, Atlanta will be ramping things up and preparing to entertain fans with "Beat the Freeze" and many other exciting on-field promotions.
In this event, the Freeze dons a spandex suit and races a lucky fan from foul pole to foul pole. The kicker is the fan gets a generous head start before the Freeze finally takes off, hoping to chase them down, and most of the time that happens.
Landing this gig will not be an easy task. Requirements include being physically fit and in good health while being able to perform in extreme high and low temperatures. We all know what Summer in Atlanta feels like.
In addition, to be considered for this “Mascot Sprinter” position, you must be able to work weekdays and weekends including some holidays. It is also strongly preferred that you have mascot experience. The salary for this position was not posted.
If that doesn’t sound challenging enough to win this job, you also have to prove you're not lying with an in-person audition by showing off your speed.
In 2024, we hope to see more classic moments from one of the best on-field segments in all of Major League Baseball.
The Braves will be looking for the fastest individual to fill this role before the season begins. They will ensure they pick the best candidate to keep this as entertaining as possible. The probability of virality with this tradition is why it's so important to find the perfect candidate. It's been six years since the infamous wipe-out video above. The Freeze isn't impossible to beat and it's always enthralling when a fan finds a way to “Beat the Freeze.”
