Braves' historic season could come to sour end if offense doesn't show up in Game 4

The Atlanta Braves have their backs against the wall as they prepare for Game 4 of the NLDS at Citizens Bank Park. Their entire season hangs in the balance.

The Atlanta Braves were delivered a gut punch in Game 3 of the NLDS as the Phillies homered 6 times leading to a 10-2 loss.

Atlanta now finds themselves down 2-1 in the series and will go home with a loss tonight. Baseball's best team all year has barely made any noise offensively in this series.

The Braves have scored 7 runs between three games played and 5 of those runs came in the 7th and 8th inning of Monday's comeback win. The other two were last night in Philly despite the team having 10 hits.

Atlanta wasn't able to get runners home as they were 2-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base. They had chances to get themselves back in this game but could not find that big hit they so badly needed.

Spencer Strider gets his chance to answer the calls of Philly fans chanting "We want Strider" as the two heavyweights face off. He is prepared for this moment and is the best chance the Braves have to deliver a clutch pitching performance.

The Phillies may have owned him in the 2022 NLDS and even though they won the first game of the 2023 NLDS, they did not own him like they say they did. Strider allowed just 2 runs (1 earned) through 7 innings and struck out 8 Phillies.

However, the offense didn't show up in that game and the Braves lost 3-0. Offensively, things will have to improve or the Braves will not win this series. Strider can't score runs for them. Although, I'm sure he'd go out there and hit if they let him.

Ranger Suarez held the Braves scoreless through 3.2 innings in Game 1 before Rob Thomson removed him from the game. Philadelphia's bullpen took things the rest of the way and helped shut out the Braves at home for the first time since 2021.

The Braves usually slug well against left-handed pitchers but Suarez is the exception. They will need to come out with a sense of urgency and put up multiple runs early to give themselves the best chance at winning the game and send the team back to Atlanta for Game 5.

Baseball's best team will need to go out and prove why they were the best all year. Pitching will need to keep things close but this team having a chance to advance to the NLCS and face Arizona, is in the hands of the 2023 Braves offense.

Game 4's start time was moved from 6:07 PM EST to 8:07 PM EST after the Diamondbacks swept the Dodgers in 3 games. Atlanta is the last division leader standing in the NL.
