Chris Sale joining the Atlanta Braves is probably the biggest splash Alex Anthopoulos pulled off this past off-season. It is also the acquisition that Atlanta fans seem to be the most excited about. However, according to Chris Sale, the Braves’ most recent signing could make a huge difference.

Gabe Burns reported on Sale’s reaction to the Braves signing Adam Duvall, a teammate of his in Boston a season ago.

Duvall is set to make $3 million on this one-year deal. Understanding that the Braves organization has a certain way of doing things on and off the field, Chris Sale sees the fact that Duvall has played with the Braves before as a huge advantage.

Adam Duvall will begin his 11th MLB season in 2024, and this will be his third stint with the Atlanta Braves. Chris Sale also mentioned the consistency of Adam Duvall.

Duvall has one All-Star appearance in his career along with a Gold Glove Award. For his career, Duvall has a .232 batting average with 184 home runs and 536 runs batted in. Atlanta can expect a low average, high power season from Adam Duvall at the plate regardless of the role he is in.

Most likely, Duvall will see limited playing time with Kelenic, Acuna, and Harris holding down the outfield. However, Adam Duvall could also serve as the Braves' DH when matchups call for it or comfortably replace any of the three starting outfielders in the unfortunate event of injury.

With Chris Sale’s impressive career and playing with many great players, the praise he gives Adam Duvall should be recognized. Another power bat like Adam Duvall joining this already insanely talented lineup should excite Braves fans, even if it is not an everyday occurrence. The bench is strengthened when he doesn’t start, and the team will not miss a beat when he is in the lineup.
