Monday was a stressful day for the Atlanta Braves and their fanbase. They ended the 2024 season with a hard-fought and anxiety-inducing doubleheader against the New York Mets. Atlanta heartbreakingly lost game one of the doubleheader in what will certainly be known as an instant classic.

However, Grant Holmes and the Braves bullpen, took care of business against the Mets in the season's final game to clinch their spot in the postseason. The ending of the stressful and bizarre 2024 season couldn't have been more fitting.

The team lost the first game and then weren't able to start their ace after fans learned Chris Sale was scratched due to back spasms that flared up on Sunday as he was preparing for Monday's start. Holmes learned he was starting thirty minutes before game 162.

It came down to the wire but at the end of the day, they made it into the playoffs and anything can happen now.

Atlanta briefly celebrated their achievement before getting on a plane and heading to San Diego for a tough three-game series with the red-hot Padres. Let's check out some of the highlights from last night's celebration.

Atlanta Braves celebration after clinching playoff spot is well-deserved

Brian Snitker kicked things off with a brief but inspiring speech to his club. He stated, "Don't ever take this for granted. You're never, ever guaranteed this, and enjoy the hell out of it. I don't care how the hell we get in, we're in now fellas, and anything can happen as we've seen."

This rousing speech was followed by an exciting champagne shower that was so well-deserved. After the stressful season they had, it must have felt good to celebrate a postseason spot. Regardless of how they perform in the playoffs, this team overcame some of the worst adversity to reach this point and fans should be proud.

Player interviews were kept as brief as possible since the team needed to get on a plane and head to San Diego where they would begin the playoffs on Tuesday night. However, there were some highlights during those interviews.

Veteran starter Charlie Morton had a lot of great things to say about the character of this year's team. He stated, "This group has remained the same. Day in and day out the most consistent, the most high-character dudes and I think that's what made this possible."

Hearing this from Charlie Morton is extremely fitting. He's been described as a clubhouse guy and helps keep this team focused through a long season. Morton could be entering his final postseason as many think he could retire.

He gave a lot of credit to the front office for helping build that culture and he's right. Atlanta's clubhouse has often been their strength. It's easy when you're winning games but true character is revealed when things aren't going right. That's what separates this Braves team from their opponents.

Despite all the obstacles presented to this Atlanta Braves squad in 2024, they found a way to get to the playoffs. Every interview we've seen this season showed they believed in the team's ability to get here. They never gave up or stopped believing in themselves.

Anything can happen from this point on but fans should be immensely proud of what they accomplished despite missing key players like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider all season.

We'll leave you with one last thing before Atlanta announces their postseason roster and begins a tough series in San Diego. The Braves shared a hype video for the playoffs that simply states "Pick a time. Pick a place, We'll be there."
